imageElaine Helm Norton is the new media editor for The Herald newspaper in Everett, Wash., where she oversees news and multimedia content for HeraldNet.com. She started her career in journalism as military affairs reporter at the Kitsap Sun in Bremerton, Wash. A native of Washington state, she earned her bachelor`s degree in 2005 from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. She lives in Everett with her husband, Kevin, and their cat, Sasquatch.

I wish I had studied journalism in school, especially now with the explosions of internet blogs. I do ok as a freelancer, but I think the extra training would have helped my writing style. When you blog about boring topics like medical insurance, you need all the help you can get.
