Having overshot its Kickstarter funding goal, SiliconHillsNews.com will launch a print magazine this spring to showcase Texas startups at the SXSW Interactive conference in Austin.

SiliconHillsNews, which launched in 2011 with the help of a J-Lab Women Media Entrepreneur grant, had raised $7,909 as of Feb. 3 – $564 more than its initial goal and it still had 12 days to go in its crowdfunding campaign.

The magazine will profile local Texas startup companies and offer a list of startup resources for technology companies in the Central Texas region. It will also run advertisements from area businesses looking to support the Austin-San Antonio tech community.

Site founder Laura Lorek has bootstrapped the site. It now reaches more than 20,000 unique website readers every month and thousands more through social media. It’s one of the top sites covering startup news in Central Texas.
